Born in Norway, Jon’s parents immigrated to the U.S. in 1969 and moved the family to Colorado in 1974 where, in 1985, Jon graduated from Aurora’s Smoky Hill High School. He subsequently enlisted and served as a paratrooper, tank crewman, and scout with the U.S. Army’s elite 82nd Airborne Division, receiving an Honorable Discharge from active duty as a Sergeant (E-5) in 1989. After returning to Colorado, he utilized the Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP) to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and minor in History from Metropolitan State College (nka Metropolitan State University) of Denver in 1996, then went on to earn an MBA from the University of Colorado at Denver’s Graduate School of Business in 1999.
